About a year or so ago, I shared some tips about some registry mistakes we made when we were adding things to our wedding registry. There were so many things we included that we loved, but there were also things we probably shouldn’t have registered for (like how I ended up with TWO slow microwaves).
Now that we’ve been married for over two years and are now homeowners, I realized there’s quite a few things we didn’t register for that I would have loved to during the time of our wedding.
If you’re planning a wedding or a house warming, today’s post may give you some inspiration as to some practical (and some simply cute) items you should add to your registry!
Drinkware:
Despite having lived on my own and acquired a number of cups before marriage, in the midst of moving there were some casualties. We went from about 10 easily to 4 glass cups, which are the ones we usually like to use if we’re having guests over.
Plate Set:
Speaking of drinkware, we only had a set of four plates when we got married because I never really needed more than that when I was living by myself. I didn’t realize how much you really need at least a set of six, if you’re planning to entertain guests. I’d definitely recommend a neutral set of white plates and a pattern or design for a salad plate to add a pop or color to your table set.
Bedroom Furniture:
I didn’t add any furniture to our registry, primarily because I didn’t think we really needed it. However, when we got married, I realized that the dresser I used for my clothes simply wouldn’t be enough for the amount of clothes I acquired since I was old enough to buy my own clothes and his. In hindsight, I would definitely register for either an additional dresser or additional closet storage space.
Cloth Napkins and Napkin Rings:
While we haven’t had any formal dinners yet, it’s something I wish I registered for for when we eventually do begin hosting dinners.
Placemats:
I didn’t think we’d really need them because I rarely entertain guests to the level of requiring placemats. Now, however, as we think about hosting more family dinners, it would be nice to have.
Gadgets from OXO:
This is not sponsored, but I’ve had my eye on a few of their products because they seem so convenient would help me a lot in the kitchen to keep things organized and clean. I wish I would’ve registered for ALL of the things from this brand.
Air Fryer:
I don’t really eat a whole lot of fried foods at home, but when we do, I sometimes think of the air fryer my mom has and how her air-fried fish came out almost identical to the way ours do when we fry it. It’s a nice thing to have if you are trying to watch what you eat.

Chinoiserie Jars:
I love the look of Chinoiserie and the idea of using it for a cookie jar or for a vase for a bouquet of seasonal flowers in the spring. Most of the one I really liked from William and Sonoma is super pricey, however – regardless of shape or size. Like $150 pricey, but I’m also a bit stingy when it comes to prices for certain items. Until I hit the lotto or reason with myself to get one of those, I’ll have to get a dupe or something with a similar design.
Tool Boxes:
Especially as new home owners, you don’t realize how much you may end up using those toolboxes and the tools within them.
Vacuum:
I didn’t think we’d need one because at the time that we got married, our apartment was all hardwood and no carpet. Well, the gag is our new home is pretty much all carpet with the exception of the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room.
Wall shelves:
I don’t think we registered for wall shelves, but it’s something I wish we did because they’re good for not only hanging things, but holding up different mementoes and decorative gifts we’ve received over the years from family and friends.
Ninja Coffee Bar:
We didn’t register for this and ended up purchasing it after we moved, but I would definitely recommend this machine. I cannot speak highly enough of it’s features and how it makes brewing coffee in the morning a lot easier for us when we do. I shared some more about it here.
