If you’re from or spend time frequently in the Wilmington area, you’ve probably heard of DE.CO. Even if you haven’t heard of it, you’ve likely driven past it on your way down 10th Street on your way to Market Street. It’s nestled within the DuPont Building, which is the same building that houses Le Cavalier and The Hotel Dupont.
When we first went to DE.CO (and took these pictures), it was before the pandemic, so things have changed a lot since then. For example, for quite a while, DE.CO was only open during the week when it reopened after the earlier parts of the pandemic. This meant that if you wanted to visit during the weekend you’d be met with locked doors. While there have been some changes since it first opened, including some of the vendors within it, it’s still a place we’d definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quick bite while shopping or working downtown. Let’s get into why!

1. THERE IS A LOT OF VARIETY
DE.CO is a food hall that features quite a few restaurants that have installations there where they sell their delicious food for hungry visitors. Some of the mainstays include Connie’s Chicken and Waffles (which is one of our favorite places there and is black-owned), Al Chu’s Sushi, Stu & Sammy’s, and Spark*d Coffee and Pastry. Those are just a few of the options available there because there’s even a bar where you can order drinks from if you chose to. We love that there’s so much variety because there have been quite a few date days where we want different things. Here, we can go to one place knowing that we’ll each find something we’ll be in the mood for due to the variety of cuisines.
2. IT’S CONVENIENT:
We love how convenient it is to order from there. Now, you can place your order online for pickup, skipping lines at some of the most popular spots. However, even before then, they moved pretty quickly. Even at Connie’s, which is a pretty popular spot, they had a system in place where it didn’t feel like you were waiting for your food for too long, although you knew they were preparing everything fresh. It’s fast food, but higher quality, which is very convenient when you’re in a rush or just looking for a place to grab food during your lunch break.
3. IT’S IN A GREAT LOCATION:
Speaking of convenience, the location of DE.CO is very convenient if you’re downtown looking for a bite to eat after a day of shopping at the stores or perhaps seeing a film at the Theater N. It’s close to a lot of the downtown establishments and a short walk from the stores on Market Street. If you’re staying in any of the downtown hotels, you can get there rather easily as well. In fact, most of the time when we’ve visited, it’s always been because we were near downtown and wanted to grab something to eat.
…or because we were really tasting chicken and waffles, hehe 😉
4. THERE’S VALIDATED PARKING:
I mean, for those of you who drive in Delaware, do I need to say any more? Finding parking can be a bit of a hassle downtown, depending on the time of day and the day of the week you’re down there. The fact that you can get your parking validated for parking in the 12th Street garage is a pretty good deal and definitely something we often appreciate when visiting DE.CO.

If you are ever in the Wilmington, Delaware area, we highly recommend that you check out DE.CO during your visit there. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat or a place to go for a nice conversation spot with friends over lunch, this would certainly be a place we’d recommend.
