This post has also been shared to our Substack.

It’s been a little minute since I’ve posted here and honestly, that’s been the case for quite some time now. Often times, whether it’s here or on the blog, I’ve sat down with the intention of writing and then I’d either get distracted or for one reason or another, couldn’t fully commit to finishing the post. It’s challenging because writing is very much a creative outlet for me (even the rambling I tend to do when writing posts like these or our Fresh Pressed Edits sometimes), sometimes it can be difficult to finish a post.
I thought we’d do something a little different in today’s post and share what we’ve been up to in the form of a major life update.

We another baby girl!
Our second daughter arrived some time ago! Even typing this feels surreal, because as I am writing this (not sure when we’ll publish this), I am still newly postpartum. We’re truly so thankful. To go from not being sure if we’d ever be able to have children due to our prior losses to now having two, beautiful girls is a blessing that we do not take for granted. She’s so cute, like her big sister, and we’re so thankful for them both. We love them so much and we are looking forward to raising them.
This pregnancy was different than my pregnancy with our first daughter in a number of ways, especially physically. I gained more weight this pregnancy, although since giving birth, I found out that most of it was water weight due to water retention, baby weight (as she was born bigger than our first), and amniotic fluid. This meant that as my doctor would often remark, I likely (and did) felt more pelvic pain and would have more trouble breathing – especially towards giving birth.
This pregnancy also flew by, something my OBGYN even said. After talking with some other parents, they mentioned that it’s because I was pregnant with a toddler, which makes sense.
I may share some more photographs from throughout my pregnancy here and there, but ya girl was (and felt every bit of it) tired, hot, huge and swollen – especially closer to giving birth in the third trimester.

You can view a few more of some of the pictures taken during my pregnancy over on our Substack here.
While my intention wasn’t to be secretive this time around, I never got around to publicly sharing the news outside of our close friends and family because honestly, pregnancy with a toddler makes you very exhausted. By the time I got finished working and spending time as a family, I was in bed and don’t get me started on the first trimester and how nauseous I was practically all day. I didn’t have the energy to make many blog posts and like I mentioned above, I would start it and then not fully commit to finishing it out. I also think that due to a scare I had in the 1st trimester, I approached sharing the news similarly to what we did with our first, except instead of writing in a newsletter (which I realized I never published the last post when our first was born -facepalm-), I utilized the Close Friends feature on Instagram. Even then, however, I did not post a lot because I don’t generally post a lot on social media. That said, I am thankful that we waited again because pregnancy is such a sacred and vulnerable time emotionally, mentally, and physically.
What’s going to happen with the blog?
Like last time, as we adjust to our new normal, our blog will go through a bit of a transition period. We cannot say how long this transition period will be or what will be the outcome of it, but I can definitively say posts won’t increase any time soon. We also don’t know what content will look like in the future and I don’t want to make any statements about the frequency of the posts, because we don’t know that yet either. There are some posts that were pre-scheduled, but not a ton, so eventually things may get a little quiet on this space as we figure out our posting frequency that allows us to still be present parents as folks who work full-time.
We’ve debated on getting rid of our main blog (this blog) by not renewing the host subscription (which admittedly would be hard for me because we’ve put so much time in creating it) and instead utilizing Substack as our main space, but I also know it’s not wise to make any decisions during this postpartum period.
As of right now, the Fresh Pressed Edit posts feel doable for me, so I may keep doing those here and there while I am on maternity leave if I am able to.
If you’re still trying and in the throes of struggling to conceive, know that we see you. As you may know if you’ve been reading our blog for a while, before conceiving our first we tried for years and experienced two pregnancy losses before becoming parents. I understand how complex the feelings are when you see pregnancy announcements when you are in the midst of wondering if you’ll ever be able to share your own. It is lonely and isolating. I’m hoping for you. We will continue to tag any baby or pregnancy-related posts that we may share here with BabyK and will share most of our pregnancy-related posts on our Substack.
We want to sincerely thank you for your readership over the years and through our life transitions. Some of you have been reading my blog since before I married Han and others since we disclosed some of the challenges we had with expanding our family. We are excited to be a family of four and looking forward to raising and loving our girls.
