As many of you know, we lost our cat to cancer in October, which was very hard for us. I didn’t write a post about her passing, but shared my thoughts after finding out that she had cancer. She was a childhood cat of mine and has been with me through some very difficult and very joyous moments in my life.
However, after almost a month, we felt that we both were ready to invite and care for a new bundle of joy. We’re now pleased to introduce you to our new cat, Kimi!
We saw her online and immediately fell in love with her cute little face. However, I know adoptions can either go quickly or take forever, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.
The application was pretty lengthy and consisted us having to supply information to our vet and have two references that weren’t family members or relatives. However, we were able to get all of those things done quickly which resulted in us being approved the same day!
We literally put in the application in the morning and got a phone call stating that we were approved around 7pm that evening. Since we were traveling a lot for the holidays, we scheduled our adoption time for when we returned and got to officially bring Kimi home that Sunday!
Kimi is six and half months old, so she’s still a kitten, but already has so much personality, spunk, and loves to eat.

In fact, recently we’re working on trying to understand our “no” enough that she doesn’t topple the Christmas tree. I’m really praying we establish that quickly because now that she’s getting a little more comfortable with us, baby girl is into a lot of things.
Even as I write this, my husband and I are both taking turns trying to get her to keep her little paws off of the Christmas tree. So far, she can’t seem to resist it’s faux leaves.
You’ll probably see little Kimi around a lot on our blog now that she’s officially a part of our family!
We’re excited to be able to watch her grow and care for her as time goes on!
Welcome to our home and my blog, Kimi!
Do you have a pet or have you adopted one before? If so, what is your pet’s name?
