Not too long ago, my wife and I tried a new-to-us coffee shop in Philadelphia named Jiggy Coffee. We’ve been searching for cafes that we haven’t tried before and I came across this cafe in my search. Located on 1000 Pine Street, it’s very close to the heart of the center city, which means that finding parking can be a challenge, but once you do, you can grab your coffee and go for a walk after (it was too cold to do so when we went though). Either way, the name caught my attention and the menu seemed worth trying, so we decided to visit one Saturday afternoon.
Jiggy Coffee is a coffee shop located in the Washington Square West neighborhood of Philadelphia. If you remember things by landmarks, it’s close to Magic Gardens, Seger Park, and South Street. On it’s website, the owners write “We love coffee. We like how it smells, how it tastes, and how it makes us feel. So we are here to serve up well made drinks and we think you’ll enjoy it.”
Sounds like a place worth trying to me.
How was the ordering process?
My wife ordered our drinks online, because we had to leave soon after getting our lattes, so I am not sure how the experience is when you’re ordering in person. I will say that the online ordering process was smooth and provided a lot of opportunities for customizing your latte the way you want. My wife customized hers and did not have any complaints.
What did you order?
I ordered a hot latte with caramel and mocha syrup, while my wife ordered an iced latte with maple, winter orange, and vanilla syrup, which was quite a combination. However, she ordered it because there was a drink on the menu at the time called a “Winter Orange Cappuccino” and instead of ordering that since she wanted a latte, she ordered the syrups that were in it and added vanilla.
What did you think of the coffee?
We both thought it was good. My wife’s latte had a unique flavor to it, but the maple and vanilla really rounded it out. With my latte, I could still taste some of the coffee flavor from the beans, which wasn’t too bitter and had a nice, smooth taste to it. My wife couldn’t stop talking about hers and how much she enjoyed it.
Would you recommend it?
I would recommend it. I’d be curious to sample some of their other lattes as they seem to have seasonal flavors based on ones that were available when we ordered. They also sell pastries and as someone who likes croissants, I’d like to try their baked goods in the future as well.
