We heard about Pour Richard’s Coffee sometime in 2020 when were trying to find more coffee shops to try out that weren’t too far from the Philadelphia area. Since we weren’t dining out and were staying home, grabbing coffee-to-go was (and still is) one of our favorite things to do during the weekend. We’d grab a cup and go on a drive in the area, usually for about an hour or more depending on the mood we were in. But I digress.
As soon as we saw the name of the coffee shop, I like to believe we were sold simply on its punniness alone. We’re both history nerds and I enjoyed teaching about The American Revolutionary period when I taught history, so we immediately got what they were getting at and decided we’d check it out to see what they had to offer. We tried it once and the rest, as they say, is history.
That being said, we haven’t actually written a post sharing what we thought about their coffee, so we felt that it was only right that we publicly shared our adoration for a coffee spot that’s about a 10-minute drive from Wayne, PA.
But before we get into that, let’s dive into its history and backstory.
ABOUT POUR RICHARD’S COFFEE
Pour Richards is a coffee shop located in Devon, PA – not too far from Eastown Pennsylvania. On their website, the owners, Richard and Jean, describe themselves as coffee enthusiasts, who created the company in 2005. They would work on making the perfect cup of coffee for their friends and family at a penny bar that he would refer to as his own Pour Richard’s Almanac. They describe their cafe as “small-batch, fourth wave craft roastery” and highlight their eco-friendliness by the following attributes:
We cultivate DIRECT TRADE relationships with farmers
Our ZERO EMISSION roaster uses heat-recycling technology
All packaging is RECYCLABLE and COMPOSTABLE
We support made in USA

THE COFFEE
As you can probably infer from how often we visit, Pour Richard’s Coffee Company is one of our favorite places to visit when we’re in the area. Their coffee, including their decaf coffee, is delicious. It’s robust, but not bitter so that when you’re enjoying lattes you can still taste their coffee, but if you’re drinking it without a lot of additives to it you’re not tasting bitter grounds. It’s smooth and is always an enjoyable sip whether we’re drinking their iced coffee or their hot lattes.
They also use iced coffee cubes in their iced coffee, which I am always excited about each time we enjoy any of their regular iced coffees. I’m a huge fan of iced coffee cubes as it makes for a flavorful sip each time. This keeps their iced coffees from tasting watered down and allows you to get more of the coffee flavor while enjoying a latte.
WOULD WE RECOMMEND IT
We would definitely recommend Pour Richard’s if you’re ever in the Devon area. The coffee is delicious, the service is wonderful and it’s a shop where you’ll know each time you go you’re going to get the same great experience that you did the time before. If you happen to visit after visiting our blog, we’d love to know what you think!
