Growing up, Easter was (and still is) a big deal in our household. I know that people celebrate Easter for different reasons depending on what you do our don’t believe in, but as believers, we approached this day with reverence joy for what it reflects in our faith and the day would often entail wearing our brand new Easter pastels, dyeing or eating dyed boiled eggs, and course we’d end up eating copious amounts of my mom’s delicious lasagna, collard greens, ham, and other items she decided to make for Easter that year. My grandmother would turn on BET’s Sunday Service and watch that in the morning as we prepared for the day. Once we were old enough, my mom would let us pick out our Easter outfit, so we were always so excited to don our new clothes. Another thing that we often looked forward to that my mom prioritized to making it a magical holiday for us was creating an Easter basket.
My mom would decorate our baskets with fake grass and fill them up with little trinkets based on what we liked at the time and our favorite Easter candies. It’s something that now as a parent, my husband and I have talked about wanting to continue with our family. Last year, we ultimately decided on not doing an entire basket, but this year we decided because she’s old enough that we’d try to start the tradition of making a little basket for her. As a result, I’ve been purchasing and eyeing items that we thought would be adorable additions to her little toddler Easter basket. In this post, we’re going to share some of the things we’ve purchased (or similar to them) and/or items we would have purchased and would therefore recommend for other parents.
