Coastal Bedroom Mood Board
As with many of the decorative things when it comes to our house, our bedroom decor has been one of the last things on our list of priorities of things we’d like to get done on the house. As much as I’d love to have a finished bedroom with all the fixings, you learn really quickly when you own a home that there’s other things that might need to get handled sooner and are higher on that priority list.
However, this has not stopped me from picturing our dream bedroom and how I hope to make it a little more cozy.
In today’s post, I am going to be sharing with you some of the various mock-ups and mood boards I created as I begin to think of how we’d want our bedroom to look like.
If we decided to go for a more modern, coastal look

If I am being honest, this is one of the styles I am leaning towards the most, in addition to the more rustic look. I like the idea of keeping the colors pretty calm and simple so that walking into our bedroom feels less like a an art museum exhibit and more of a relaxing environment. Although there’s nothing wrong with the former and after looking at some websites sometimes I like the idea of having a more vibrant space. However, with it being our bedroom, I’ve found that I sleep better in spaces where there’s less decor where I’m going to be sleeping.
If we went for a more rustic, coastal look

This is another style I really like since as far as home decor, I definitely lean more towards more rustic purchases. I also find that a lot of coastal items can also be considered rustic depending on the style of them such as decor with ropes in them. I love the above items as a potential look because it’s rustic without being too cheesy.
If we went for a more vibrant, coastal look

I know what you’re probably thinking, “this isn’t really even vibrant!”
Honestly, you’re probably right. I feel like my definition of what vibrant is is a bit different because this is coming from someone who rarely wears bright colors and only recently started introducing more of them into her daily wardrobe. So, in some ways, the above colors do feel very vibrant to me because of the combination of them all together. In some ways it feels bright, but it also still feels me with some aspects of the rustic decor I like and more muted, blush colors.
If we kept it neutral

This look is another contender because it goes back to my desire to create a space that feels relaxing when you walk into it. I love the idea of coming home and feeling like my bedroom is it’s own separate space. Like I’ve just walked into a spa or something. I remember visiting someone from our church’s house and feeling so relaxed upon entering because her decor is so inviting and coastal. If anything, it was after seeing her decor that I really started to want to create a similar environment in our home.
