This fall season was not anything like we anticipated it would be. It had some incredibly difficult moments in it. Usually this time of year I’m brimming with excitement, looking forward to the changing leaves and the cooler weather. However, this fall, due to some circumstances, was different. There were no visits to the pumpkin patch, no Christmas card photographs, and no frolicking through the leaves. There was very little that we shared that we looked forward to doing in our fall bucket list post that we actually ended up getting to do. Despite that, we still have a lot to be thankful for.
We’re thankful for our family and friends. We’re thankful for shelter, food, and the ability to afford those things in addition to affording some fun, extraneous expenses every now and then. We’re thankful for each other and that we met. We’re thankful for God and how he’s been an anchor for us through a very difficult time. We’re thankful for our careers. We’re thankful that the treatment my sis is getting has been effective and that she’s officially cancer-free. We’re thankful for the ways God has provided for us in moments when we didn’t think things would work out. We could go on and on.

We don’t know what the rest of this week let alone this year will look like, but we’re both praying that going forward we get good news – especially the news we’re hoping for. We pray and are hopeful that we’ll experience what we’ve been praying for soon. We’re praying for miracles, good news, answered prayers and sustained joy. We’re praying that we’ll have a lot more to be thankful for very soon.
I’m sure that for you, reading this right now, you’ve experienced some hard things in your own this past year or what you’re praying and hoping for right now. Maybe you’ve also had moments where you’re full of hope, followed by moments where you’re struggling to find a reason to keep going. Maybe you lost a loved one. Whatever you’re going through, I hope that this holiday brings you an increasing amount of joy. I hope that you find a lot of reasons to smile this holiday season and that you’re able to experience joyfulness.
Happy (Almost) Thanksgiving!
