12 Things I’ve Learned Since Becoming a Mother About Myself, Motherhood, and Life
One of the things that motherhood has taught me so far is just how fast time goes by. Just yesterday, I was holding her in my arms for the first time, excited yet scared at the same time. I hear of people joking that when they first became parents, one of their first thoughts when they were being discharged was, “Wait, you’re trusting me to take care of this baby?” I may not have uttered this exact statement, but the feeling was there. This feeling of inadequacy because despite the classes we took and the articles we read, it felt like in that moment everything went out of the window when I was staring down at her big, brown eyes, searching my own eyes for a sense of comfort as she entered the world for the first time, fully dependent on my husband and I. Imagining Our Dream Home
I saw a post the other day, which I wish I could find again, where someone listed the things they’d love in their dream home and it inspired us to start thinking about what we’d want in our dream home – emphasis on dream home. While it is possible that one day, if we decide to move again, we may find a home that has all of these boxes checked or that we would be able to afford to upgrade aspects of the home, the reality is that it won’t have everything and if it does, could we afford it? A Photo Story: Touring The Gibson House in Boston, MA
A few years ago while on a trip to New England, we stopped by The Gibson House in Boston, MA. My wife hadn’t heard about this museum, but since we both enjoy touring mansions, it was something I looked up for us to do while we were there. We had been to Beacon Hill before, but we didn’t know, before that visit, that there were historical mansions you could tour. It was pretty cool getting to get inside one of them as we learned more about who the family was and the neighborhood. (Read more)
Fresh Pressed Edit / Vol 41.
You’ve probably heard people say, “April showers bring May flowers” when referring to the weather on the East Coast, and every year this time of year, I am reminded of just how accurate that statement is. Spring always reminds me of how applicable that statement can be in other areas of life as well. In some ways, spring represents an ending of what was and the start of new beginnings as the buds begin to appear on branches and the weather begins to shift. The same can be said about personal mindsets, relationships, and/or friendships. (Read more)
