The Attwater Hotel
The Attwater is a hotel located in Newport, Rhode Island and resembles what I’d think would be called a boutique hotel. It has almost everything you could expect from a regular hotel, except some of the features make it feel more like you are staying in an inn that is focused on allowing you to really feel rested and relaxed than a busy hotel.
The Experience
The first day we checked in, we were both welcomed by a sweet staff member who helped us get settled. She mentioned that we would be getting the keys and even our own IPad for our stay which was preloaded with things like “places to eat” and “things to see.” This feature was really helpful for us, because although we planned where we wanted to go ahead of time, there were some days where it rained or was too hot to do what we originally planned and we were scrambling for a Plan B. Also, it was just really cool to have an IPad we could use. Now I know I don’t need to bring my laptop with us if we are able to stay there again.

The Room
We got the king suite because we wanted to be comfortable since we knew we’d be staying for longer than a weekend. Our room was WAY bigger than we both thought. It was actually bigger than our first apartment together and compromise of two sections, a bedroom section, and a living room area. It was basically apartment sized and had so much natural light.
We said that if we are able to stay there again we’ll probably get one of the smaller rooms since we didn’t need that much space, but by the end of our stay we didn’t want to leave. It was so comfortable, roomy, and nicely decorated.

The Staff
The staff was so so pleasant. In fact, we kept saying that one of the reasons why we’d consider going back there if we’re ever able to head back up to Newport, RI is because of them. They were all so pleasant and emphasized that we were on vacation and they wanted us to relax. As someone who can be a bit of a workaholic, it was a nice reminder – especially our first day – when one of the staff members encouraged me to sit and not worry about disposing of our dishes. They were all also very personable and willing to talk to each guest.
I don’t remember their names, unfortunately, but if you are able to stay there one day, you will definitely be treated kindly by the staff there.

The Food
One of the unique things about this hotel is the food they provide. Yes, pretty much all inns and hotels provide a continental breakfast where you can find bagels, orange juice and the like. However, here they served unique dishes that were yummy and served in small plates. You could eat as much as you wanted, but the presentation with the small plates made everything look really nice and was a nice way to wake up in the morning.
During the evenings they would provide these delicious baked cookies with a little salt on top and it was the perfect way to end the evening. I could’ve eaten an entire plate of those myself because they were so good.
Overall
Overall, we absolutely enjoyed our stay and would love to stay there again in the future.
