I previously said that when we got pregnant again, I probably wouldn’t want to do maternity photographs. It was difficult booking a photographer for our first pregnancy for announcement photos only to have to cancel it after and I didn’t want to go through that again.
However, as time went on and shortly after our second loss, I found myself feeling more certain that this was something we wanted to do. It can be so difficult to manage the anxiety and lean into pregnancy after experiencing such deep grief, but I was determined that it was something I wanted to try to do. I wanted to try to celebrate each day, each moment, each symptom, and each milestone and take things one day at a time. Every day is a gift and we were determined that we would document and celebrate it as much as we could, throughout the process.
Not only that but with as long as it took us to conceive our double rainbow, we don’t know if we’re going to have another child after Baby Kim. So, we ultimately decided that we’d go all in for this pregnancy if we could afford to do so and try to soak everything in. Whether it was maternity photographs or taking posed photographs here and there of our baby growing in my belly or a short babymoon with just the two of us, if we could afford it, we wanted to do it.
Just a reminder that in hopes of respecting those of you who may not want to read our baby and pregnancy-related content at this time and in hopes of having no limit to how much of it we can share, we’re sharing the full details on our Substack.
