Over the past 10 years, there have been many cool new restaurants in downtown Wilmington, Delaware. One of my favorite places is Farmer & the Cow. Every time there is a new restaurant downtown, I investigate it, unless it’s advertised as vegetarian.
“The Cow” in the title was what caught my intrigue and it surely did not disappoint! They serve the thickest burger patties I have ever seen! They are also the juiciest, tenderest, and flavorful that I have ever tasted! I assure you, this is not hyperbole…doesn’t word hyperbole remind you of stromboli? They use a blend of brisket, chuck, filet, and short rib for their burger patties. I don’t have pockets deep enough to frequently sample each of those cuts to really pass myself off as a true connoisseur, but I just know that those burgers don’t fall short an iota of amazing!
Their tater tots are also something we’d recommend trying if you’ve never had them before – especially their Truffle Parmesan Tots. They’re crispy, flavorful and very well seasoned. The garlic and truffle are a very nice touch that set the entire side dish over the edge. Although we’re usually full after eating our burgers, it is hard to not order a side of tots as well.

They also have a great selection of beer. While it has been a while since we dined in due to circumstances, I’ve enjoyed grabbing a beer during our date nights at Farmer and the Cow. Nothing like a cold brew with a plate of well-cooked beef. Between their beer and their bourbon, there’s plenty of options for those of you looking to have a drink alongside your meal.
They also specialize in is milkshakes with a variety of creative ingredients and different toppings to tickle your fancy. It has been something I have wanted to try, but I get too full from their burger to warrant a milkshake with my meal. I’m sure those other things are great too but even if milkshakes aren’t your thing, the burgers are enough to warrant a visit.
