It’s almost summertime and some people are already starting to pack for their summer vacations and road trips. I’ve seen some people I follow begin to make arrangements to visit family members know that they are fully vaccinated (two weeks after the second shot) and clips of family members embracing for the first time. Whether you’re planning to go on a road trip this year to a domestic destination or planning a staycation closer to home, there are definitely some items I’d recommend bringing with you to ensure that you’re able to enjoy your trip safely. Here are some items we own or have found recently that will help you travel safely.

Hand Sanitizers, Disinfectants, and Other Items to Safely Clean and Sanitize
I know, I know. For some of you reading this, packing disinfectant seems a bit excessive because the rooms are already cleaned. However, something I learned from my mother when we used to go on family trips before the pandemic is that rooms aren’t often cleaned the way you think they are. While you don’t have to deep clean your room, I always recommend giving a quick wipe of high-touch surfaces and spraying the inside of your bed with some safe, disinfectant spray.
As far as the hand sanitizers, these are nice to have on the road, in your bag somewhere for when you need it.
Disposable and Cloth Masks
While mask mandates have been lifted in most states, some stores and restaurants still require that guests wear it to ensure the safety of all guests involved. I’d recommend packing some to be safe and for when you’re potentially around crowds or in public restrooms, trains or buses and of course, if you’re heading to the airport to fly.
Vaccine Card Holders
While most places honestly aren’t checking for these, some are, so if you’re vaccinated, it’s a good idea to bring your vaccination card with you where you can keep it secure from water damage. I’d recommend picking up a 4×3 card holder, lanyard or wallet, so that you are able to have it with you at any point if asked.
In Case of Emergency
Charger? Check. There are some things I’d recommend having in the event that you run into some issues while on the road or traveling through an airport. Portable chargers and emergency blankets are super important for instances like these.
For a Cozy Ride
Whether you’re riding or flying, neck pillows can come in handy for long trips. While not as comfortable as sleeping on a pillow in a bed, neck pillows can keep your neck from cramping after you nod off. Some nice, cozy blankets are also a nice thing to have in case it gets a little chilly inside of the car after having the air on for a significant amount of time.
