It’s almost fall y’all and even though it’s August, I’m already celebrating as if it were September 21st. If you’re looking for ways to celebrate the season by doing fall-themed activities for less, you’ll love this post sharing fall-themed activities under $20!
I honestly feel like I come alive during the fall months and am so excited for this upcoming season. However, candidly speaking last season I went way overboard on the fall activity spectrum and ended up spending more money than we needed to because I wanted to do all of the fall things. Needless to say, I’ve learned my lesson and am now setting a budget for all of our fall frolicking. In lieu of that, I’ve created a fall checklist of things that you can do that are $20 and under!

VISIT A PUMPKIN PATCH
Whenever I imagine fall, I imagine pumpkin patches with hayrides, apple cider, and pumpkin picking. While pumpkin prices can vary, hayrides and apple cider is generally inexpensive depending on where you go and normally won’t cost you more than $20. This also depends on the amount of people that you go with.
Even though I don’t think I’ve ever purchased a pumpkin from a patch, just being in the environment where there’s so many of the can easily put you in the fall feels.
GO SEE THE FALL FOLIAGE
During the fall, one of my favorite things to do is to just walk around and see all of the holiday decor and foliage during the fall. There’s something about seeing the leaves fall and being bundled up while we walk through the streets of the city or of our neighborhood that really excite me. It’s a great and inexpensive way to celebrate the fall season because it’s as one of my old high school teachers would say, “free, ninety nine.”
BUNDLE UP AND MAKE S’MORES
Speaking of bundling up, one of my husband’s fave things to do is make s’mores. Yes, s’mores are probably more of a summer thing, but when I think of making s’mores I think of the fall and the winter. It’s the coziest times of the year to be bundled up near a warm fire with something delicious to eat.

DECORATE THE HOUSE:
While this technically isn’t free and the price varies based on where you shop and how much you spend, actually spending the day decorating the house is free. If you’re like myself and you reuse some of the same decorations each year, you don’t have to spend much of anything to get your house fall ready. For me, decorating for fall reminds me that it’s officially sweater weather and that Thanksgiving is just around the corner.
WATCH MOVIES
I actually don’t like horror movies because I am easily scared, but if horror is your thing, the fall is the perfect time to cozy up and watch it. Grab your favorite horror movie (or fall-themed movie) with some kettle corn and enjoy. I’m more of a Lifetime movie kind of gal, so that’s normally my favorite thing to watch during the fall season.
MAKE YOUR OWN PUMPKIN-SPICE COFFEE
Nothing puts you more in the fall feels than a cup of something pumpkin-spiced flavored. Well, that is if you like pumpkins and pumpkin-spice. If so, it’s much cheaper to make your own because you can have multiple cups for under the price of $20, but purchasing it as a treat won’t break the bank much either.

CARVE PUMPKIN
I’ve only done this a few times in my life and as messy as it was, it was memorable. My mom did the cutting, but a couple of times I was able to help clean it out. Besides, who doesn’t want pretty pumpkins adorning their yard that they’ve crafted themselves.
DO DIY ACTIVITIES:
Although I’m not the best at making items from scratch and have had my fair share of Pinterest fails, I think there’s something about special about making your own things. Go to your local craft or dollar store, pick up some paint and make your own fall-themed crafts. You could paint pumpkins, make your own candles, and even make your own lanterns. This also depends on the craft, but most of the materials, if you purchase them from the right stores are under $20!
